Why acrylic rather than basket

A one-piece acrylic tub has no weave, no seams and no fabric. It is wiped out and disinfected in a single pass between babies, with nothing to launder and nowhere for fluid to sit. For a cot that turns over with every discharge, that is the practical advantage over a basket crib.

Seeing the baby

Clear sides mean the mother can see her baby from her bed without getting up, which matters most in the first day after delivery when she may not be able to. Staff can check from the doorway without disturbing either of them.

The tilt lever

The lever at the foot end raises the head of the crib and holds it. Head-up positioning is used after feeds and for babies with congestion, and being able to set it one-handed while holding the baby is the point of putting the lever where it is.
