The base is the whole design
An overbed table only works if its base disappears under the bed. The H-frame is offset to one side of the column so the legs pass beneath the bed frame while the top reaches across the patient. A table with a centred or four-square base stops at the bed edge and leaves the patient reaching for it.
Height set by hand
The knob releases the column and locks it again anywhere in the range, so the top can be dropped for a patient lying back and raised for one sitting upright, without tools and without calling for help.
The edge trim
The moulded trim around the laminate does two jobs: it contains a spilled drink on the top rather than letting it run onto the bed, and it takes the knocks that would otherwise chip the laminate edge and let moisture into the board underneath.
Moving it
Four castors let the table be pulled clear for a transfer or for cleaning the floor, and pushed back without lifting.
