Aluminium rather than painted steel

Waiting-room chairs live where the floor is mopped every day, and the bottom 100mm of the leg takes the brunt of it. A powder-coated steel leg chips there and rusts from the chip outward. Anodised aluminium has no coating to lose and does not corrode, which is why it outlasts painted frames in exactly the place chairs usually fail.

Moulded armrests

The armrests are solid moulded plastic rather than upholstered, so a spilled drink wipes off instead of soaking in, and there is no seam to split where hands grip when standing up.

Seat width

The seat is wider than a standard stacking chair and the armrests sit outside the hips, so a larger patient is seated square rather than wedged, and has room to shift position during a long wait.
