Why slatted rather than solid
Stock that goes away slightly damp is what causes musty linen and corroded packaging. A slatted deck leaves a gap between every bar, so air reaches the underside of whatever is stored and moisture escapes instead of being sealed against a flat steel sheet.
Drainage
In a wash-down store the shelves themselves get cleaned. Water runs straight through a slatted tier to the floor, so there is nothing standing on the shelf afterwards and nothing to wipe dry before restocking.
Welded frame
The frame is welded rather than bolted, so there are no fixings to work loose under repeated loading and no joints for fluid to sit in. Six tiers give full height storage in a single footprint.
