Built for a four hour session

A dialysis or chemotherapy session is measured in hours, and the patient cannot get up during it. That changes what the chair has to do: it is not seating, it is where someone lives for an afternoon. Powered recline lets the patient shift between upright and near-flat as often as they need, without a nurse leaving another patient to come and adjust them.

The arm supports are the clinical feature

Both arms are carried on wide padded supports rather than narrow rests. The access arm needs to be held still, level and slightly away from the body so the line is not kinked and the site stays visible for the whole session. A standard armrest does not do that, which is why treatment chairs are specified with full-width arm supports on both sides so the chair works for either arm.

Legrest and Trendelenburg

The legrest elevates under power. Beyond comfort, raising the legs and lowering the back is the immediate response to a hypotensive episode during dialysis, and being able to do it from the hand control in seconds is the reason powered movement is worth paying for on this chair.

Moving the patient

Four castors with brakes and a push handle at the head end mean the chair moves with the patient still in it, so someone who feels unwell can be taken out of the bay without a transfer.

Cleaning

Upholstery is wipe-clean vinyl with sealed seams, disinfected between patients. Side panels and frame wipe down with it.
